Why Invest Internationally?
Historically, there have been long periods when international stocks outperform U.S. stocks.
Reasons for International Investing
While the U.S. has a strong economic history, several other economies present opportunities that investors should consider. International funds increase diversification by adding more companies and more markets to your portfolio. Historically, there have been long periods when international stocks outperform U.S. stocks. For example, in 2009, the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index SPX saw significant losses while international asset class returns ranged from 1.2% to 12.8%.
The Galleon International Growth account adds currency diversification by investing directly into some companies through their native currency. This provides additional diversification, and the potential to take advantage of currency differences between the USD, Euro, the British Pound Sterling, Swiss Francs, Hong Kong Dollars, Indian Rupee, Japanese Yen, Chinese Renminbi, and other highly liquid world currencies.
Account Benefits
The account is professionally managed and helps clients diversify their portfolios by exposing them to appropriate amounts of risk. Historically, investors who only invest in U.S. multinationals do not gain the same level of exposure and potential gain. With more than half of the world’s market capitalization existing outside the U.S., we strive to manage risk through diversification.
