Learn how our income strategies and solutions have helped others live life on their terms.

Government Bonds ▸

Government Bonds are simply loans you make to a government, or a government agency to finance projects and other needs. The bond issuer agrees to repay you at a fixed interest rate by a specified date, or maturity. You may want to consider investing in bonds if you want to focus on a specific maturity, you’re looking for income that’s free from federal, state, and local taxes, or you want to complement the mutual funds in your portfolio.

Corporate Bonds ▸

Corporate Bonds are simply loans you make to a corporation to finance projects and other needs. The bond issuer agrees to repay you at a fixed interest rate by a specified date, or maturity. You may want to consider investing in corporate bonds if you want to focus on a specific credit quality or maturity, you’d like exposure to certain corporate issuers or to certain industries, or you want to complement the mutual funds in your portfolio.

Stock-Yield Enhancement Program ▸

If you have stocks that are attractive in the securities lending market, our custodian will borrow the stocks from you, and deposit collateral into your account.

Short-term Debt ▸

Short-term instruments include T-Bills, Commercial Paper, and money markets. These types of investments offer a high level of safety, and are often used for people interested in saving for a major purchase, such as a house, car, or college tuition.

Dividends ▸

Some investors might be suitable for including dividend-paying stocks. While there is no guarantee that a corporation will continue to pay a dividend, there are many companies that have paid regular dividends to it’s shareholders over the years. Stocks can fluctuate in price greatly, and may not be suitable for all investors.

US citizens living anywhere in the world and US resident aliens may open cash or margin Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).

IRA margin accounts allow trading so the account can be fully invested as well as the ability to trade multiple currencies and multiple currency products, but are subject to the following limitations:

  • No cash borrowing (i.e. cannot have a debit balance or short stocks).
  • IRA accounts may be opened in any base currency, but when trading in a non-base currency product, a currency trade must be executed first as you cannot borrow currencies.
  • Withdrawals are permitted only in USD.*
  • No stock or option cross-margining.
  • No currency borrowing.
  • Futures trading in an IRA margin account is subject to substantially higher margin requirements than in a non-IRA margin account. Margin rates in an IRA margin account may meet or exceed three times the overnight futures margin requirement imposed in a non-IRA margin account.

Customers are advised to consult with their adviser and tax specialist for further details on IRA rules and regulations.
Residents of Canada may not open Individual Retirement Accounts.
